Controls-Ready Mechanical
Mechanical Systems Prepared for Controls Integration
3rdGen coordinates and installs mechanical systems so the equipment, access, documentation, and communication-ready infrastructure are prepared for integration by the controls contractor or BAS provider.
Built for Mechanical Scopes That Need a Clean Controls Handoff
Controls-ready mechanical work requires clear boundaries. Equipment selection, BACnet-capable components, communication pathways, access, documentation, and the controls contractor interface all need to be considered before handoff.
3rdGen does not perform BAS programming. We coordinate and install mechanical systems so they are ready for integration by the controls contractor or BAS provider.
Best-fit scopes
- Commercial HVAC systems requiring controls readiness
- BACnet-capable equipment coordination
- Institutional mechanical upgrades
- VRF systems with controls interface needs
- Mechanical scopes involving a controls contractor
- Owner-led equipment modernization
- Projects requiring clear mechanical handoff
- Projects where access and documentation matter
What 3rdGen Supports
3rdGen supports the mechanical side of controls-ready delivery. We do not provide BAS programming.
Equipment Coordination
Coordinate mechanical equipment requirements, BACnet-capable components, manufacturer options, and controls-readiness considerations.
Communication-Ready Infrastructure
Support the mechanical installation so the system is prepared for the controls contractor or BAS provider to complete integration.
Access and Documentation
Plan equipment access, serviceability, labeling, documentation, and handoff needs where the project requires a controls interface.
Mechanical Handoff
Coordinate scope boundaries with the GC, owner, engineer, and controls contractor so responsibilities are clear before startup and closeout.
Controls-Ready Mechanical Coordination Considerations
Controls integration goes smoother when the mechanical scope is planned with handoff in mind. The goal is to make the installed system clear, accessible, and ready for the controls provider.
- BACnet-capable equipment coordination
- Manufacturer controls options
- Communication-ready infrastructure
- Equipment access
- Serviceability
- Labeling and documentation
- Controls contractor interface
- Mechanical scope boundaries
- Startup coordination
- Closeout requirements
- Owner requirements
- BAS provider handoff

What 3rdGen Does — and Does Not — Provide
3rdGen provides the mechanical installation, equipment coordination, controls-ready preparation, access planning, and documentation support needed for integration.
3rdGen does not perform BAS programming, controls programming, graphics, sequencing logic, or final controls integration. That work belongs with the controls contractor or BAS provider.
Our role is to make the mechanical system ready for that handoff.
